LGBTQIA+ Community

We are here to support you

Have your experiences left you feeling isolated and unseen? Are you constantly on alert and reading situations to determine how much you can safely be yourself?

Being highly attuned to context as a lesbian, gay man, bisexual, or transgender person is adaptive; however, it shapes your inner world, too. It affects how you think and feel about yourself. In response to an outside world full of negative messages about what it means to be attracted to people of the same sex or not cisgender, many people come to view themselves as deeply flawed, unlovable, unworthy, and hopeless.

We understand there are unique challenges and experiences faced by individuals within the queer community. When it comes to therapy, we want to support and strengthen you to help you live the life you desire. We believe it's crucial to have open and authentic conversations about gender and sexual identities.

Research consistently shows that individuals within the LGBTQ+ community often have higher rates of mental health issues compared to their heterosexual and cisgender counterparts. But here's the thing: the distress doesn't come from who you are, but rather from the discrimination and prejudice encountered while embracing your true self.

Understanding and accepting gender and sexual identity can be an emotional and complex journey. It's not always easy to navigate questions about your identity, come out to others, find your place in relationships, or heal from past traumas related to gender and sexuality. However, studies have shown that by receiving support and feeling connected to community, it is possible to experience less mental distress and maintain healthier relationships.
